Product Description:

Address550 allows you to fix duplicate fields in an Address Book contact (say, ones created by iSync), and find and merge contacts with the same values (such as Name, E-Mail, etc). It is recommended that you backup your address list before using, by selecting all contacts and dragging them somewhere in the finder. The source code is included.

What's new in this version:

Progress bar added to show progress for finding conflicts
Computes conflicts in a seperate thread so the application remains responsive
_Might_ work in jaguar. If the program doesn't open, try compiling from the source

Unfortunately this app was not designed to scale with more than say…one duplicate contact. Thanks to a sync fiasco I have about 300 hundred dups (triplicates actually!). Eliminating them with this app would take years.

I have to concur with brewermfNYC... if you suspect just a few duplicates among many cards, this will find them faster than you could manually. I have hundreds from a double-import blunder, though, and the merge process for each entry is stultifyingly slow on my G5/1.6. For cases where I know the cards to be completely identical, it would be nice to have to option to delete one rather than to wait for a merge that in fact has no work to do.
