I am a PhD student, who waited until the last year to take my qualitative analysis courses. I needed something that I could use right away without too much training.

In TAMS I found a carefully considered, thoroughly documented, up-to-date, and logical program that I was able to learn well enough for my first project in just a couple of hours.

One thing that impresses me about this software is that the creator took the time to make it understandable by including a tutorial. How refreshing to see a mindset of a mentor in the field of software. And so often it is in Open Source or Creative Commons that we get to breathe this fresh air. It almost gives one hope for humanity!

Thank you!

TAMS Analyzer ReviewEasy to install and intuitive reports/menus - Version: 3.23b2, 7/4/2005 08:52PM PST

I installed this and tried producing reports using the sample files. It all worked and I could figure it out in less than an hour. I am not an experienced qualitative researcher and have not used this software for more than an hour, but it looks real good. I also appreciate that the developer provides updates over the past few years.

This is a fantastic qualitative analysis program. I'm finishing my Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology at MSU and I'm using TAMS Analyzer to code all of my interviews. I have NVivo for PC, running on my Mac, and I prefer TAMS as my primary tool for coding. As a researcher with complex theoretical problems at hand, I greatly appreciate the simplicity of this software.
