PGP Desktop 9.5 provides individuals a simple, easy-to-use desktop encryption solution to automatically protect confidential communications and digitally stored information with an integrated solution based on strong, broadly accepted security technology.

PGP Desktop secures private email, selected files, and AOL® Instant Messenger (AIM) and iChat traffic. Includes a plug-in for Mail.app, Unicode support, S/MIME interoperability, PGP Global Directory integration, significantly improved compression, and cross-platform compatibility with Windows.

What's new in this version:
- Intel-based Mac support is delivered through a Universal binary for Mac OS X users, along with an improved Mac user interface.
- PGP Whole Disk Encryption introduces encryption of entire non-boot volume hard disks.
- Dynamically re-sizable virtual disks. No more having to create new virtual disks and copy contents as they grow in size.
- Messaging Policy Enhancements include a number of new policies.
- Notifier delivers comprehensive status and control for your outbound messages.
- Full S/MIME Support has been added to the Outlook MAPI and Lotus Notes messaging components. Support for separate signing and encryption keys.
- International character set encoding improvements.
- FIPS 140-2 Integrity Checking option.
- Public Beta 2 features German and Japanese localizations

plaintigeri've been using PGP products on and off for years, and like others i have had some problems with their bugs, user-hostile interfaces/installation procedures, and questionable support. i can't claim to have really put it through its paces yet, but i will say that so far, PGP Desktop Home 9.9.1 is the least problematic PGP product i've used. it installed properly the first time (*that's* never happened before) and i haven't yet seen any unexpected behaviors...all of which - especially in light of the nightmares wrought by my attempt to use the free, open-source substitutes (GPGThis, GPGThat, and GPGTheOtherThing) - are very welcome.
my experience isn't very extensive, but as far as it goes, it indicates that PGP's the security package to use. 9.9.1 appears solid, and the alternatives i've tried definitely suck.

they are verry slow in fixing buggs, respond of a problems takes up to weeks.
the softwre is ok but for example apple mail is not supportetd, so if you want to encrypt a email no chance in apple mail....
the even dont know what is snow leopard so dont expect a update to work in snow leopard
