PGP Desktop provides individuals a simple, easy-to-use desktop encryption solution to automatically protect confidential communications and digitally stored information with an integrated solution based on strong, broadly accepted security technology.

PGP Desktop incorporates PGP Universal technology to provide automatic encryption, decryption, digital signatures, verification, and recipient key lookup, making it appropriate for both novice and power users. PGP Desktop secures private email, selected files, and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and iChat traffic. Includes a plug-in for Mail.app, Unicode support, S/MIME interoperability, PGP Global Directory integration, significantly improved compression, and cross-platform compatibility with Windows.

What's new in this version:

  • full support for pre-boot authentication for maximum security of your Mac OS X desktop or laptop
  • full support for external drives, including the sharing of Whole Disk Encrypted thumb drives between Mac and Windows clients
  • use of the FIPS 140-2 validated PGP SDK for cryptographic operations
  • complete enforcement of your encryption policies and visibility into your Whole Disk Encryption deployment by providing a single, centralized management console (PGP Universal Server) for both WDE for Mac OS X and WDE for Windows clients
  • English, German, and Japanese user interface support.
If you're an existing PGP Desktop customer, you can launch PGP Desktop, navigate to the PGP menu, and select "Check For Updates" to determine if you're eligible for a free upgrade to version 9.9.

i was a registeret User, and all was OK with OSX 10.4.11. But on 10.5 it was just not starting. Then i did try to update. All you find is,- nothing. Stupid Answers and no Suport. Its like to be just toleratet, but realy not Welcommend ! I never buy this Produkt again.

If you're not 100% sure of what this is or how to use it, stay very far away. It gave me a 3 month long nightmare and there is ZERO support.

100% sure.

The only people you have to worry about is your government, and there are NO applications that they can't get around. Also under homeland security, software makers and communication companies have to share with them what ever they ask for.

So why are you using this ?

Paranoid about hackers. I'm not.

If you're using this because you're doing something wrong, you're going to get caught sooner or later.
This will just give you a false sense of security and cause you to be more wreak-less.

I find it's better to cover your ass to where it would hold up in court. Then no worries.
