I think we mean "relative pitch" versus "perfect (or absolute) pitch".

right. A friend of mine trained his ear so well so he could keep up with me, and damn, he was good. An app like this should do the trick well.

capability for perfect pitch recognition. Studies have been done on this, especially relating to east asians cultures that use the pitch of words to change thier meaning. While there is no absolute proof that perfect pitch can be learned after adolescence, it is generally agreed that it is ineed possible with practice. Further, up through the early teen years, children can learn perfect pitch extremely quickly--similar to linguistic education.

be OK, but a bit expensive. I have used Music Trainers & Utilities 2.1.2(free, donationware) for a while now, and was expecting to be really impressed with a $15 shareware. The program is good, but not for me. Oh, and I have never heard of relative perfect pitch, just one or the other. While I don't have perfect pitch, and know very few people who do, a tool like this will help a person improve their relative pitch.

- those with well trained ears can adapt to learn perfect pitch. It's not that hard as long as you give yourself enough regular practice. Good .app on first glance - does exactly what it needs to.

pitch is like training to be a genius -- either you've got it or you don't. But for those of us normal folks relative perfect pitch can sometimes be even better. This app does just what it says, and 15 bucks is fairly reasonable for music folks. I would recommend it to all who call themselves musicians, but especially students. I'm not subtracting stars but would love to see a lower price for school kids.
