Leopard Cache Cleaner CommentaryThis one feels wrong... - Version: 4.0.9, 5/3/2008 01:05AM PST

There's one thing that LCC seems to do well: it reformats the file cache (it claims to use "the disc defragmentation tools built into OSX itself"... it says this in the yellow java text box as you roll your pointer over that choice under "optimize") and this seems to improve boot time and speed of app launches, at least on my sys (10.5.2 G5 Dual 2Ghz PPC) but I'm getting tired of this ongoing fascination with barber poles, and "jerky" ones, at that. It seems ... well, clunky. If it had an accompanying sound file, it would be that of a creaky door. I keep it on-board because of the file cache reformatting... all other jobs go to various utilities that run the Unix scripts, as I shut my Mac down. I want to trust LCC, but lately it won't validate my admin password: sometimes for the first few tries, and sometimes not at all. This seems to be at its own whim. This is a new development, and not a welcome one. It stalls occasionally on different tasks (force empty trash, and optimize ram) and a force-quit is often necessary. No stars or reviews - just observations. I hope it improves soon.
