Product Description:

Man's best friend may fetch your paper every morning, but Buddy will fetch a dozen newspapers... clip out summaries of the top stories, stock quotes, sports scores, weather data and comics you want... and paste them together into an uber-newspaper.

(did I mention he also fetches slippers without slobbering all over them?)
(And that he's Open Source?)

What's new in this version:

Entirely rebuilt GUI from the ground up..
All old functionality retained.
Terminal application is no longer invoked while fetching. (By Request!)
Modules are now stored online in a cvs repository.
Updated modules can now be downloaded at the click of a button from cvs.
Application source code is now online.
Support files and preferences are stored in more appropriate locations. (By Request!)
Fetching now easily canceled with a button click.
Individual modules can now be turned off and on. (By Request!)
Some module bug fixes.
Sports scores now fixed.
NBA scores and NHL scores added to sports page.

I'm a major news junkie. This won't necessarily replace my RSS readers but it is a great complement. It would be nice if disabling a module would also disable the page. I don't track stocks or slippers but I still get a blank stock page and a page full of slippers! Thanks for a great app. Looking forward to future development.

I downloaded and enjoyed the older version (O.6.2) of Buddy Retriever, but lost track of it as snazzier apps like Watson and NetNewsWire came along. Still, I was glad to read that Buddy Retriever had been dramatically updated.

...Perhaps a little too dramatically. I can change preferences and observe Buddy fetching all the requested info-but the "open paper" button does nothing. Let go of the paper, Buddy! Bad doggie!

My guess is that this is a small bug that the developer can fix quickly. Glad to see an old favorite updated, and I hope to use a fixed version soon.

BTW--am using Quicksilver 976 MHz G4, 768 MB SDRAM, OS X 10.3.3, default terminal settings...
