I find this program to be a wonderful for cataloging your video tape library. It gives you lots of options to store and retrieve your video with powerful search capabilities. Loging tapes for batch lists in FCP works extremely well and makes the job easier than anything I've seen out there.

I find this program to be full of features and outperforms anything out there. If you need to find a clip from a movie you took years ago it can find it. The previews take up very little HD space and its logging features are very easy.

I disagree with the last reviewer completely. I use Macs and PCs professionally for video production (mostly Macs and Final Cut Pro) and on more than one occasion CatDV has been an absolute lifesaver! I find it pretty intuitive to use, given everything it does. As to price, all I can say is we were looking at some pretty high end media management systems with a price tag of $10,000 or more (!) before we picked Catdv and we don't regret our choice one bit.
Great to see 5.0 out, keep up the good work!

This is a poorly implemented, buggy and feature limited application. The user interface is at best average. This is B grade hack shareware.
Have a look at iDive or Foottrack for one fifth the cost!

...but this poorly done Windows port isn't it. The interface is Windows wrapped in Aqua and the behaviour and U/I what you'd expect from a Windows program. No attempt has been made to bring it in line with Mac user interface conventions and standards.
Three of the four reviews before mine were posted by the same person pooring lavish praise on the product. Before you drop $275 for this Windows port take a look at iDive and let the authors there know what you're looking for. I am still looking for software that will help me manage my footage.
If you live in a cross platform world and need to support Windows and Mac users, this might be a good bet.

This is the only software I've purchased that pays for itself on a daily basis! Sure $275 sounds steep, but once you use it, get the hang of it, it bends over backwards for you -- it practically makes me waffles every morning for breakfast!
I can't say enough good things about this software or the company... talking about bending over backwards!!! -- they literally don't sleep until bugs are fixed and the app is solid.

phenomenal! You request a feature, find a bug and it's like they're working away in your garage until you're happy! It's wonderful how I can scan through 200 cataloged tapes for the exact footage I need, mark the ones I want, import Batch list to FCP and have FCP capture my footage... presto!!! I am forced, on a daily basis to dance in my studio! I purchased the Pro version about 4 months ago. It's been the best purchase I've made in a LONG time! I couldn't be happier! Thanks guys! (this program seriously needs 10 stars!)

program! This has saved me so much money it's not even funny! I can instantly find the video and/or soundFX files I am looking for. If you're into doing video, this is your 'right-hand man'. On a side note... get the Pro version! You get instant feedback to your requests as well as any bugs you may find are quickly resolved! I can't say enough good things about the program and the company.
The only feature which still needs some work are the printing options which are rather poor since V2 with rather limited customization possibilities.
