CatDV 6.0 Professional Edition adds many features of particular interest to production houses and professional users over and above CatDV's core features.

Professional Edition features

Unlimited user defined metadata attributes to annotate clips.
Enhanced search dialog, with multiple conditions and logical expressions, named filters, and regular expressions.
Additional export file formats, including Avid ALE, dpsVelocity, Final Cut Pro, and XML.
Additional import file formats, including Avid OMF and Pinnacle Purple files.
Verbatim Logger command.
Log using timecode event markers within a clip or by creating subclips.
Fully customisable preview settings.
Customisable clip details panel layout.
Timezone and camera clock adjustments to permit accurate date-based correlation of shots taken with different cameras.
Support for standard JKL shuttle controls when playing media.
Use CatDV Pro as a client to gain access to the networked capabilities provied by the CatDV Workgroup Server.

What's new in this version:

Added support for creating subtitles using event markers. Display current event marker label in movie controller. New 'Apply Log File' command to create subclips from a master clip based on an ALE or tab-separated text file. Enhanced grouping and multi-grouping picklist choosers (use up and down arrows to select items, press Enter to display the popup, press semicolon to enter additional multi-grouping values). When browsing clips via the file system tree display them immediately in the clip details panel. Display GPS geotag information from iPhone 3GS movies. Changed 'New Log Entry' command. Support for 'contains all of' query operator on multi-grouping fields. Display a warning when logging on as Administrator. Various fixes related to image sequences, appending to query results, timecode on exported movies, sending subclips to FCP via XML, and others.

Everything has nicely evolved although some features have reached a "saturated" level (how many filters,groups and bins to you need to get your stuff sorted..?).

The only feature which still needs some work are the printing options which are rather poor since V2 with rather limited customization possibilities.

I find this program to be a wonderful for cataloging your video tape library. It gives you lots of options to store and retrieve your video with powerful search capabilities. Loging tapes for batch lists in FCP works extremely well and makes the job easier than anything I've seen out there.
