WARNING! AppleĀ® iSync The "latest version" of Apple's iSync is supported by P990i. Using Bluetooth, iSync can NOT synchronize Contacts, Calendar and To Do items between P990i and a Mac computer. link to the SE-WhitePapers http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/global/docstools/phonespecs/p_phonespecs.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1&zone=ps //Knut

Apple iSync Review8 week limit is horrible - Version: 2.4, 12/23/2005 04:46PM PST

This problem had a work around in earlier versions. They blocked that with Tiger! It's in credibly arrogant to think nobody needs more than this! I need my calendar synched out more than a year to work in negotiating meeting dates for professional organizations, etc. I have to remember to bring my computer to a meeting just for the calender. Why then should I even use iSync?

This a simple thing to fix, and should be considered a bug, and a major one at that.

Apple iSync Usage TipTip- contacts not being updated from phone - Version: 2.4, 11/8/2005 04:39AM PST

Just to let you know - having struggled with the new versions of iSync (menu bar madness!) and weird connection problems, I've discovered an answer/work round for new contacts not being synced from my phone (Sony K700i).

A lot of my new contacts are just mobile numbers, saved as Mobile. If this is all you have it WON'T sync! However, if you save the number as Work or Other it does. Or you can add a Work/Other number just using 0 (it won't take a blank field).

It would be really nice if Apple sorted out all these niggles with iSync and Address Book....

Having said that it's nice to able to send/receive texts via Address Book and Bluetooth.

I have been using isync for 4 years. It has gotten steadily less useful during this time, and now Apple is not really supporting CDMA phones because it views GSM as the 'future.' However, the only 3G phones available in the US are CDMA 2000. Apple has been trying to go to the bank on isync without paying much attention to those of us who rely on iSync. Someone needs to write a viable alternative.

Apple iSync ReviewNot useful if you want to use your Palm - Version: 2.4, 10/16/2005 07:15PM PST

Until iCal and Address Book can be made to support 'categories', these otherwise fine applications are nearly worthless for use with a Palm. I eagerly await Apple's response to this serious shortcoming so as to make it practical to use iCal and Address Book with a Palm.

Apple iSync ReviewSeems to work fine. - Version: 2.4, 7/14/2005 07:17AM PST

Rohit
The new version worked fine syncing both my Nokia 6600 (BT) and the wife's Moto v180 (USB). It did install somet little software on the 6600 that the previous versions did not.

My biggest gripe about iSync? Why in the heck can it not sync address books across my home network?!!! The answer, very likely, is that it can but Apple would rather sell you a subscription to .mac.

Apple iSync Usage TipWorks well with Palm T5 - Version: 2.4, 7/13/2005 08:54AM PST

pauldrummond
I've just installed the iSync 2.1 update and everything works well with my Palm T5. Once I installed the update I launched iSync, selected my Palm and chose 'Enable Palm OS Syncing...' from the 'Devices' menu. This made iSync install the latest version of the iSync conduit. I was then able to launch HotSync Manager and check that this conduit was set up correctly. I then synched my Palm in the normal way. Everything worked fine.
It may be that I didn't have to do all this, but if you're having trouble this procedure might solve your problems.

Apple iSync CommentaryI don't get the menu bar item anymore, please explain... - Version: 2.4, 7/12/2005 08:32AM PST

In Tiger, Apple made a strange change to the iSync menu bar item. When the iSync application is closed, the menu bar item only does .Mac syncs. It will not allow you to initiate a 'regular' sync like it did under Panther. Even stranger, when the iSync application is opened, the menu bar item WILL initiate a regular sync. Can someone please explain to me what Apple is doing with this feature/logic change? I don't get it.
