It works. You can scan documents, images... by downloading this tool, but requires some information. The installer is old and badly designed, to be honest.
1/
You first need to download the software called CanoScan Toolbox X. They update it regularly so google it to make sure you can get a recent/decent version.
This tool require a plugin. This plugin has nothing to do with photoshop plugins.
2/ download this driver and copy it to the App/Canoscan tool box/ plugins folder.
launch the app , it will work.

install and run Photoshop CS3 in Rosetta (in info panel of app).
Then select File and Import — the scanner utility should be there.

Kind of wish the software were a little less messy and 90's looking too.
