I liked it enough to leave feedback. It's excellent. You can make fantastic mosaics from your iPhoto library with a couple of clicks, and it's free!
One thing... i use a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz and it slowed it down significantly.

I've used this tool for two years now. It just keeps getting better. Easy to use, fast and mesmerizing to watch in action. I can't imagine trying to do this by hand. Thank you.
Good product. Makes for fun projects

I've used this program for a couple of years now. I had a crash with version 2.0a7 when I first used it, but nothing since then. It would be great if they could fix the Google Image search, because it is definitely broken. I had no problems with Flikr, however. I get much better and faster results if I only put in one image source request (such as requesting Flikr to find dogs, puppies, beagles, poodles, etc. all in one request rather than multiple image source requests.)
If I put in a lot of image requests, it can scan through 100,000 images without ever completing, but if I keep the requests brief, it finishes quickly. A typical run is about 27,000 images scanned in about 1/2 an hour (broadband).

My Favorite mosaics application

I have tried several applications of that sort but MacOSaix is the best and getting better all the time (though upgrades are not often enough). My experience of 2.0a6 is excellent and creations I've done with it won admiration of all viewers.
This rev doesn't seem to work

I've used V1.01, which worked great. This rev doesn't seem to work at all. It goes through the motions but doesn't end up creating a mosaic. The GUI doesn't help. If you can find an older version - try that instead.

Is there an alternate download source for this update? The .Mac account that versiontracker takes us to is no longer available.
Still no Google picture fix... - Version: 2.0a6, 2/26/2007 08:30AM PST

Wanted to create a picture for a friend's birthday back in the summer of '06.
When the Google picture search feature wasn't working properly for this app, I was told that it would be fixed soon.
The reason given for the anomaly was that Google had changed some important aspect of it's
picture gathering capabilities on it's site and that a MacOSaiX fix was being readied.
So far, no fix and no answers to emails concerning it.
Disappointed.

This new release has a serious bug for me: the nearly white areas are filled with dark tiles.
The borders of the white area are ok, but in the centre the tiles are dark.
In the same way, nearly black areas are filled with light tiles, giving a weird effect on shadows.
I tried many different images, formats, tiles combinations, number and cropping settings with no success.
I wrote the developer, who kindly replied me and sent me a new beta release, which unfortunately has the same problem.
From that moment, I had no more news... he didn't reply to my mails anymore.
Anyone has the same problem with Macosaix?
