Product Description:

OnMyCommand is a UNIX CLI and AppleScript executor. You can build your own Contextual Menu Item or GUI application.
If you cannot or don't want to write your commands, check online command archive: hundreds of user-submitted command descriptions are available and ready for use.

What's new in this version:

Version 1.7b1 is one of the most significant updates in OMC history.
A lot of effort was put into making it a complete GUI development environment for shell scripts and AppleScripts. With this new version you can build a very powerful applet just by editing resources and connecting controls to scripts.
This beta version is pretty stable but please report bugs you find. There are a couple of features which will be added before it is final but the greatest need is for documentation. We would like to ask OMC users to help us write a manual and tutorial. Example applications and scripts are needed too. Final version will also need nice PNG images for predefined custom output windows. Icon artists may contribute droplet icons for use with DropletBuilder. Anyone who helps with OMC will receive a free license of MailTemplate, EntourageTemplate or ClipMasterCM.
This tool is unique to Mac OS X and with your help it can become better and attract more Mac users.
What is new:
  • Support for sending tasks to background application (OMCDeputy)
  • Output windows with custom shape and background defined by PNG image.
  • Fade in and fade for output windows.
  • Subcommands. Subcommands use the same command description format but use a special command identifier
  • Next command can be scheduled with "omc_next_command" CLI tool so your script can decide at runtime if another subcommand should follow.
  • More controls supported in nib dialogs, including pictures, icons, bevel buttons, static text, progress controls, tab control. Controls can trigger subcommands
  • "omc_dialog_control" command line tool to set control values in nib dialogs
  • Nib dialog initialization with subcommand
  • Support external bundles for putting nibs and custom window PNG images outside of the main bundle
  • Option to replace line endings for __OBJ_TEXT__
  • Send text to Terminal as a 2 byte Unicode for much better support of non-ASCII characters.
  • __DLG_INPUT_TEXT__ is now escaped according to the escape method described by ESCAPE_SPECIAL_CHARS
  • Enhanced Droplet Builder with support for custom application icons. Icons courtesy of Scott Chitwood
  • Some execution errors are now printed to Console so it is easier to debug a command.
  • Online command collection contains about 370 commands.

OnMyCommand ReviewMagnificent - Version: 1.9, 1/23/2008 12:00AM PST

This is a wonderful and powerful utility; I'm already using it to replace FinderEye and AcidSearch, and it has many more possibilities beyond that. I found the UI of the command editor a little disorienting at first, but it was well worth the slight effort. I've been searching in vain for even a hint that the author accepts Amazon donations; this utility is so good that I’d be delighted to pay for it.

Great freeware offering the ability to create your own contextual menu commands. Very sophisticated software yet easy enough for non programmer types.

I made the switch to a MacBook Pro and while I liked it, I didn't love it. The problem was that much of the software I have come to rely on has not been ported to universal binaries. One of these glaring omissions was OMC. Using Mac OS X without it is painful and now that I have it again on my machine, I'm much more productive and happier. Thank you for this terrific software that is unbelievably versatile.
