Product Description:

vCal Exploder is a quick and dirty utility for use with PalmDesktop 4.0 and iCal 1.0. It's meant as a stop-gap until iSync comes out for people who want to migrate (not sync) from PalmDesktop to iCal.

vCal Exploder is used to:

  • Generate multiple vCal files from a single input vCal file based on Palm category.
  • Allows you to specify how long "infinitely" repeating events should actually repeat. When you export a vCAL from PalmDesktop, it assumes only 2 occurrences.
  • Clean up "all day events" which normally import into iCal as entries where the end date is prior to the start date (marked as an "X" on a date boundary.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X
  • Palm Desktop 4.0
  • iCal

vCal Exploder ReviewNeeds an update - Version: 1.1, 12/27/2005 08:14PM PST

I am running Mac OS X.4.3 with Palm Desktop 4.2.1. These are currently the latest versions of each. vCal Exploder appeared to work as advertised, however once I imported my data there were errors. The biggest problem: any Date Book event imported during DST became 2-day events. Many other imported events/appointments were missing vital data - like the event name.

With these great - but previous - reviews, I'm sure it worked before ... maybe with Palm Desktop v4 and Mac OS X.1 or X.2, but it won't work with the latest versions of each. In fact, it created more problems & consumed more time using it.

importing datebook categories from Palm DT 4.0 into iCal 1.0.2 in 10.2.3. (In contrast an iSync (1.0) hotsync synch'd my Palm DT datebook with my Visor but had no effect on my iCal calendars). Many thanks for this useful utility.
