Startup Syringe ReviewWorks GREAT on Panther - Version: 1.1, 10/28/2003 04:08PM PST

Works GREAT on Panther. Thanks for the update.... The Apple is just too boring for me now. I wish this could accept jpg's like BootX could.

out Visage; it does not do the same thing as Startup Syringe. Visage modifies the "boot panel" which you see during startup with a progress bar and some status text flying by. Startup Syringe modifies the gray Apple logo you see before the boot panel appears.

and using HexEdit is a pain (and risky...don't forget to make backups!!!). SS is a very cool utility, and if you want to personalize your computer, this is one of the best ways to do it.

confusion: The version of MacOS shipping on the 12" PowerBooks is essentially 10.2.4. Check the build number. Apple demoted it to 10.2.3 in number only, possibly because 10.2.4 had not yet been released yet for other Macs.

use the program (found the note about OS version too confusing cuz I'mon 10.2.4) The manual instructions were great. I want to thank the developer for figuring this out and telling us.

"THIS VERSION OF STARTUP SYRINGE IS ONLY FOR THE VERSION OF MAC OS X 10.2.3 ON THE 12" AND 17" POWERBOOK G4. FOR MAC OS X 10.2 THROUGH 10.2.3 ON OTHER COMPUTERS, USE STARTUP SYRINGE 1.0.5" -- This seems like a typo (or several?) to me, as the 12" and 17" Powerbooks only run with 10.2.4. Now, does this mean that this version will work with *10.2.4* on other systems, or should all other systems use 1.0.5? Great product, but the developer sure knows how to confuse folks. :-)
