Deja Vu CommentaryCrashes System Preferences - Version: 3.6, 9/2/2009 01:41PM PST

I've used Deja Vu happily for years. Installed the 3.6 update on my Snow Leopard system, and it crashes System Preferences, every time I try to select it. This will not do. Crash reports have been sent to Apple:(

Deja Vu CommentaryYes, Deja Vu is still supported - Version: 3.4.2, 8/14/2009 10:46AM PST

propaganda prod
Propaganda Productions would like to make the following two points of clarification:

1. Yes, Deja Vu is still being supported. Our customers themselves will be the ones who decide if and when it will ever be abandoned.

2. Deja Vu serial numbers are sent out automatically, and always have been. Sometimes these messages get flagged as spam, so customers may need to check their spam folders. In any case, if you write to us and tell us you never received your registration email, we will always re-send it to you. Always.

Thank you for your time. That is all.

Deja Vu Commentaryworks well, but no support! - Version: 3.4.2, 8/12/2008 07:53AM PST

Deja vu has worked well for me for years. When I ran into a problem recently, I received NO response from developer after 3 email attempts from various addresses.

Buyer beware: this looks like an abandoned product.

Deja Vu CommentaryNever received serial and NO RESPONSE - Version: 3.4.2, 8/11/2008 01:56PM PST

I purchased online well over a month ago (via Kagi, paying with PayPal). I never received registration info and never received a single response, even though I emailed support@, info@, dejavu@ and sales@propagandaprod.com (all listed on their website for support/sales) 5 times. I'm ticked because the payment went through, I've been sitting here for over a month waiting to backup, and I seem to have no recourse (PayPal won't help other than send an email to seller since it was via Kagi).

It's one thing to have bad support. They basically just robbed me.

Deja Vu Review3.42 fixes some problems - Version: 3.4.2, 3/13/2008 12:35PM PST

In response to the post below - I have been using Deja Vu for several years and haven't touched Leopard. 3.41 did indeed have problems with Intel type/creator and OS 10.4.11. 3.42 does fix the type/creator problem where files would not know what app created them, and thanks to the developer for spending the time to find it.

One outstanding bug I experienced on multiple Macs with 3.41 and earlier, I don't know yet if it is resolved in 3.42: a bug I keep reporting where it isn't backing up all the files, where a newer file is on the source computer and not on the backup. I've deleted backups completely and had them start over so often (the developer's only suggestion), and the bug keeps reoccurring under 3.41 at least. This major lack of reliability is my main concern.

In the last month, the developer has gone silent again, and I was hoping he would answer these data reliability issues I keep reproducing, and tell me if they are resolved in 3.42. His silence isn't helping my confidence.

Deja Vu Usage Tip3.41 does NOT break Intel backups! - Version: 3.4.1, 1/23/2008 12:00AM PST

vt@rozz
If you installed DejaVu 3.3.1 under Tiger and then upgraded to Leopard,
DejaVu is STILL version 3.31.

Install DejaVu again under Leopard
and the installer will correctly install 3.4.1
which will work with Leopard.

Deja Vu Troubleshooting Report3.41 still breaks Intel backups - Version: 3.4.1, 12/26/2007 01:57PM PST

Well I tried the 3.41 version (labeled as 3.31 in the about menu) that was supposed to fix type/creator code being reversed on Intel Macs - it didn't. I deleted the backup and backed up from scratch. Just like before, my Quark documents aren't recognized. PowerPC backups continue to work fine. Any chance of a fix for the fix?

Deja Vu Reviewmy favorite backup app - Version: 3.4.1, 12/9/2007 01:19PM PST

The options and interface suit my need to backup fast and easily well. This app backs up "files and folders" as they are instead of compressing them into a proprietary format like other apps. Author is responsive to questions. This app uses the unix program psync.

I've used Deja Vu for years, and had recommended it to dozens of people. Lately, it's lost the ability to do it's automated backups, although manual backups seem to work. I tried emailing the developer and he DID respond - ONCE! He asked me to send him some specific supporting information, and I've never heard back. I've emailed several times to try to get him to respond again, but heard nothing. I don't know what's happening with him, but his great product is going to have to be replaced...

Deja Vu Troubleshooting ReportBug on Intel Macs - Version: 3.3b10, 7/10/2007 10:45AM PST

I’ve discovered a bug on to Intel Macs with 3.3b10. While it backs up fine to a server, any files without an extension like Quark documents, show up without an icon on the server. These files can’t be recognized by Quark. I’ve tried deleting the entire backup and starting again, with the same results. Backups are fine on PowerPC Macs. The author has been nonresponsive to other questions over the last several months.
