Iomega Network Attached Storage CommentaryI will no longer continue to support Iomega products. - Version: update, 9/20/2003 03:47PM PST

At the 2002 Mac Expo in SF, a CD/RW external drive for Macs that could burn a cd in 3 mins as opposed to the 15 mins the Panasonic that I had attached to my sound system was touted and demonstrated for me at the 2002 Expo. I kept in touch with them calling customer service on several occasions and each time the rep I spoke to didn't know what I was talking about. That should have been a 'heads up' as to the incompetence of their staff. It was not available for several months and then suddenly it was posted on CDW. I purchased it immediately and all the software that came with the drive was totally useless and unsupported for the mac. Software that was supposed to be in the bundled package was not included and worst of all for my needs was no manual, only available at a website. In other words, if I needed to look something up I had to access the manual on the web. I could have printed it, but I would have used at least a ream of paper and several ink cartridges.

As soon as Jaguar upgraded, there were no upgrades available from Iomega for my new drive. I feel abandoned by Iomega and want to warn as many of you out there as possible. CAVEAT EMPTOR! IN OTHER WORDS, THEY AREN'T THERE FOR YOU.

Iomega Network Attached Storage ReviewWe have the… - Version: update, 2/22/2003 12:17PM PST

A300u 120 GB model and have encountered a bug where whenever you change the root password, account creation is no longer possible. We are on our 3rd unit as a result of this bug (tech support has been very helpful), and I am waiting for an OS update to fix this bug. Other concerns are; slow, bad web interface, invisible files impossible on the "u" series (Mac OS files will ALL show up for Windows users), and some other smaller problems. The hardware seems good, the software sucks. We continue to give Iomega a chance because of the great tech support...
