SpamSieve Reviewsolid - Version: 2.7.7, 1/8/2010 07:09PM PST

excellent app. you must set it up correctly (this may be the reason some are not giving up the stars). if you do not set it up correctly you will have issues. very easy to get this tweaked and filtering junk but never underestimate those that are in a hurry, mentally challenged and/or lazy.

sieve works.

SpamSieve Troubleshooting ReportCan't Mount DMG on Tiger! - Version: 2.7.7, 10/21/2009 02:49PM PST

Jason!
I've never ever had a problem with this great software. But for whatever reason, upon downloading the 2.7.7 DMG today (10 times, mind you, both automatically and manually), I was unable to Mount the DMG. I get a "no mountable file systems" very time.

I have seen this in the past with a couple other DMGs not related to SpamSieve. But I was able to resolve the problem on those simply by using Disk Utility to "Convert" the DMG to a Read/Write or Read Only format. I tried that on this Spam Sieve DMG and it doesn't work.

So for now, I am unable to upgrade due to what appears to be a bug in the DMG (Tiger incompatibility?).

SpamSeive 2.7.7 works with OS X 10.6.1, but not with the latest (beta) versions of Eudora 8 and Thunderbird. I had to downgrade Thunderbird to start the trial period on SpamSeive. As it turned out, that wasn't difficult. But it was a nuisance.

SpamSieve CommentaryDid OS 10.6.1 break SpamSieve? - Version: 2.7.6, 9/11/2009 11:02AM PST

I just read a person claiming that the Mail update with OS 10.6.1 doesn't play with this version of SpamSieve.

Can anyone confirm that's true? If so, I may hold off on installing 10.6.1.

SpamSieve ReviewBrilliant Software; Makes E-Mail Spam an Insignificant Issue - Version: 2.7.5, 7/29/2009 12:01PM PST

I had long ago tried other Spam-filtering options--but never wanting to abdicate that to ISP-offered, server-based, solutions where I couldn't locally see just what was going on--but once I found SpamSieve, I was "hooked". After the simple training process--which is clearly described--it just worked!

Bottom Line: A far better than 99% accuracy in handling Spam for me and an absolute bargain at the price. (I hope that RTM32 takes advantage of the technical support offered by the developer in their reply to RTM32's 1-star rating. I have to believe there's something basically wrong in how RTM32 is using SpamSieve.)

For what it's worth, some statistics for me for this year to date are that I received 7,772 messages of which 46% were identified by SpamSieve as Junk. (I'm sure others have been besieged by a far higher percentage.) Of those identified as Junk, there were only 13 messages that were false positives--and once I identified them to SpamSieve is "Not Junk", following examples of them were put directly into my Inbox. On the other side of the matter, only 50 messages that I considered Junk weren't, initially, so identified by SpamSieve--and once I told SpamSieve they were "Junk", their successor e-mails went directly to my Junk. As this posting's title says: Brilliant!

SpamSieve ReviewNot a good piece of software - Version: 2.7.4, 7/10/2009 11:39AM PST

I installed this thinking it would keep a lot of junk out of my mailbox only to find that after following all the instructions I could not get two of my accounts to connect any longer with the server. I uninstalled and I started receiving mail again in those two accounts. Just so you know and are forewarned.

SpamSieve ReviewWords cannot express my gratitude - Version: 2.7.3, 3/20/2009 12:57PM PST

I just deleted from my Mail spam folder 6,580 items that had accumulated just since last November (5 months-worth).

SpamSieve so rarely makes a mistake that it's counterproductive for me ever to review its actions anymore. And I don't.

Before SpamSieve, I was constantly angry at email time. Now I don't care how much spam I get, because I never see it.

I know I sound so amazed you might not take me seriously. But try it yourself. You'll see.

SpamSieve works exceptionally well and is trouble-free. I run Spamassassin on my server, but about 10% gets through to my local computer. Spamsieve takes care of these tough cases with about 98% accuracy. No other Mac software of this genre can come close.

Why pay 30.00 when all you really need is a Gmail account.
