simple program and easy to understand: It just copies whatever file you add or change to a given location (preserving directories), it works over a network. Simple is great. It can also make backups of versions of each file. But automatic backup has two HUGE problems: 1) It never ever deletes any file on the backup side. This means that when you will restore your system you will need hours to delete the ghosts of any files that you moved, renamed or deleted! Iomega did not answer me about any plans to improve this. 2) The backup process runs AT ALL TIMES and eats (just backing up my 700MByte of "My Documents") 40 Mbytes of memory!! There is no way to ask it to go away when it is not working. Conclusion: A good idea, but practically a nearly worthless program in its current state.

I use the term loosely) like you obviously have some unresolved issues. Since when does a company HAVE to give you something for free? I used SilverKeeper (once or twice) and deleted it. Yes, it's free and in this case, you get what you pay for. This software allows you do scheduled backups, instant backups and more. Since Iomega is charging for it, I get the feeling that they will be updating and supporting it in the future. Will LaCie continue paying programmers to make free software? Who knows. I have been using this software since it was QuikSync and it works great for what it nwas designed to do - let people back up easily and quickly to ANY media (yes, it works with any mounted media - even network drives - not just Iomega stuff). Is it worth $40.00? Not to you, apparently. I guess the value of your data isn't much. Looking at the quality of your posts, I'm not surprised. Crawl back into the junior-high hole of unrepressed anger you came from and in the future, only rate software you actually use, OK? Thanks. (to counteract you negative "review" I'm gving it 5 stars. It's worth about 4, but I'll add one more to make up for your sorry "review")
I am now quite disappointed in that the Iomega Automatic Backup software for the Mac has not stayed up-to-date with the Mac Operating System. The last update for this software was in October of 2002, and today it does not function properly with version 10.3.2 or 10.3.3. I am told by Iomega's technical support that this is due to a compatibility issue.
Can you advise as to when an updating will be released for this software, or suggest a work around?
Thank you for your assistance.
