Spring CommentaryContextual Menus - Version: 1.3.2, 2/10/2004 08:03PM PST

I agree that the desktop metaphor needs reworking, and that it's a good idea to focus on the communications aspect of computing, since that seems to be the primary use of computers nowadays. However, I don't think contextual menus (especially using a right- or control-click) is a good idea. It would be better if Spring also organizes things for you, and shows you more information without having to dig through menus. Anyway, keep it up!

And as a side note, incidentally, Microsoft/Windows seems to be working on making things easier by moving away from desktops as well ("task-based"). Hate to admit it, but I think their concept is a good one...

Read the comments here! Spend some time on the docs so people know what it is and how to use it. The best app in the world is nothing more than a huge waste of time if no one can figure it out!

haven't had time to dip myself into this, but this sure feels a lot like a concept that was known as Cyberdog/OpenDoc once upon a time. I like it!!!

Spring Reviewvery interesting, but… - Version: 1.1b3, 2/6/2003 02:16PM PST

I was confused all the time... not simple enough...and...what can be more simple than to have a desktop with folders, where you can put things inside...etc, just like the real thing... in that way, its very easy to work inside a computer , because it gives you the freedom you have outside the computer... the desktop methaphor is just like the table that you have your monitor in... you can arrange thing at your own will, with ease...for me that's the simplest metaphor ever, because it imitates the real life...oh...apple did realize that in 1984!:) but this has some very good ideas! keep working on it...but...remember...make it SIMPLE! GOOD WORK!!

this out for the life of me, and I did read the enclosed documentation. You can drag in apps provided by the author but not your own. Oh, how very odd. And presumptious. I see great potential for something like this, I'm just not sure where "this" is going.
