SqueezeCenter Reviewwow. - Version: 7.2, 9/1/2008 07:43PM PST

So there are a lot of gadgets that can really make you pause and -- occasionally -- think: yes, this is definitely worth having.

The squeezebox is one of those 'toys'. Added our whole CD collection into iTunes at pretty high quality. Playing to the home stereo via an Airport Express was OK.

But that required having iTunes running, and the computer accessible.

Squeezebox took all of the difficulty of having a computer in another room streaming -- and losing the connection when the microwave ran -- to the stereo. It takes the entire iTunes library, the custom playlists, and the internet radio we like to listen to and put it right at our fingertips. Genres, by artist, random mixes. All of it from right there in the living room. This is really, really a lot 'cooler' than I would have ever imagined. Not having to insert a CD again, not even having to go to the office to turn on the music streaming to the living room. Such a simple idea and so very well implemented. Love it.

Oh, and 7.2 works just fine, too.

Installed 7.1 on a G4/450 with 10.4.11, 1.5Gb RAM. Preference Pane won't start. More exactly, clicking to start changes the button to stop, but 20 seconds later it reverts to Start. The Web Access button never changes from its greyed-out state.

Anyone have a link to the v7.0 download?

7.0 works fine for me, but 7.01 just refuses to scan for music. Anyone else having this problem?
