Product Description:

TurboTool is a drag-n-drop and Service tool hiding the power of UNIX under a user-friendly graphical frontend.
Whether it is a simple job like 'Open this file with that application', or a more complex one like 'Update this file on my homepage', or 'Use Grab to make a snapshot from the screen and open it in GraphicConverter' - there are jobs we all do every day but we do it by hand instead of letting the computer do its job.
The power of TurboTool comes from its concept of 'Atomics', the building blocks of 'Actions', which may be performed on files, on the pasteboard or standalone, by using TurboTool or 'Droplets'. The types of atomics range from simple info dialogs to shell scripts.
Several example actions are provided for you to be adjusted or used as template for your own needs.

What's new in this version:

  • Requires Mac OS X 10.3 Panther!

TurboTool Usage TipI wish I understood it better! - Version: 2.3, 5/5/2004 08:47AM PST

I am a big fan of Services - Cocoa gestures uses them brilliantly for all in one copy/paste/application switching - but the explanatory notes for this software arent user friendly enough for someone like me who glazes over at the mention of shell scripts and applescripts. Maybe later!

makes heavy usage of the service concept (inter app communication) brought from NeXT to Mac OS X. A real powerful thing (One more of Apples big marketing failures that they keep it nearly secret) - that service concept.... and Turbo Tool gives you the oppurtunity to exhaust it. With Turbo Tool you can make your own "Screenplays" for your every day workflows, just by cklicking together some of the ready made "Atomics"... Most of the everyday workflows seems to be so short that that you dont feel the need to develop a "sreenplay" with Turbo Tool. - But try it yourself and stop the time... ...I reach double speed making slide shows about applications. - Thats the kind of Mac Tools I like. Enabling you to leave the windows slowpokes behind. Be faster, go home earlier, surf more ;-)

know a little unix and scripting, and if you would like to ease your pain with the daily bit of terminal-level work, you can wait for an adequate aqua frontend to be released, or gui-fy the shell yourself: upload files via ftp, login to and check your trusty servers via ssh, remove other users trashed files, kill and restart your favorite but buggy application, etc. and always remember: perl is not the hammer for every screw ;^)
