I've been a licensed user of DeskShade since it was first released, and for me it remains the best in class. DeskShade throws in some additional features that add to its usefulness, but that do not impede its primary function. Simple, clean, effective.
Excellent for single monitors...

I've used v2.0.3 (and 2.0.1) on my iBook, PowerBook, and iMac, and it works perfectly. All Macs have Tiger.4 or better.
But when I use it on a two display system, I get a lot of video artifacts, including part of both monitors getting black bars, and distorted images.
I emailed the author who responded quickly with "I'll try to recreate it..." but haven't heard anything more. It's a shame, as it's a great app for single display systems. Five stars then, but one for multiple monitor systems.
