Product Description:
NovaMind is a great way to organize your thoughts, remember information, generate ideas, solve problems, and focus on the main issues in a fun and creative way using Mind Mapping techniques.
What's new in this version:
- Added the ability to set boundaries around branches and their sub-branches
- Added an option in the preferences to check for updates immediately
- Added an option in the preferences to automatically check for updates whenever NovaMind is started
- Added an option for scheduled update checks to happen at specified time intervals
- Changed the behavior of the update now button so that it downloads the new version of the program directly rather than taking you to the web page
- Fixed a problem with copying and pasting branches with attached graphics that had been dragged in from the Microsoft clipart gallery (may have affected some other images too).
- Updated the Italian translation
- Fixed a problem where old Mind Maps with adornments on branches wouldn't load properly.
- Fixed a problem where attached text graphics were not being saved properly
- Created a new check for update panel showing progress and allowing the user to cancel
- Built a system for checking for updates in the background and only notifying the user if there is a newer version available
- Changed the behavior of the snap lines for line branches so that they take into account the height of the text, which gives a better user experience
- Fixed a bug with formatting in the screenwriter window
- Updated the French translation
- Updated the German translation
- Completed the outstanding items in the Traditional Chinese translation
- Updated the Swedish translation
- Fixed a problem where the outline view wouldn't stay up to date with the positions of the branches as they were dragged around
- Fixed a (rather weird) problem where dragging of branches in the outline view wasn't working
- Fixed a problem where the outline view was not noticing text that had been edited in the Mind Map
- Made the outline view update live as typing happens in the Mind Map
- Made some improvements to the handling of OmniOutline files
- Updated the documentation to show the new boundary feature

I've been using this wonderful app for a little over a year now and use it for everything from project development to writing essays to screenwriting...
I cannot recommend this highly enough plus their customer service is the best I have ever experienced...

useful, powerful and easy to use. An extrordinary piece of software for teaching, learning, thinking, presenting, brainstorming. A must have.
NovaMind is a good application, but the upgrade prices are out of touch with alternative solutions. I still have version 3, but don't use it anymore.
The last mind maps I did were created with XMind Pro. Not very Mac-like, but it got the job done and currently costs less than a NovaMind upgrade.
Another great option that I will keep in mind is Mindjet's MindManager. Since the time I purchased NovaMind I liked MindManager's look and feel. NovaMind looks a bit cartoonish and MindManager has a more professional look. Still, I decided to go with NovaMind, mainly due to its integration with Merlin (and the idea of supporting a good Mac developer), but I was happy to find that MindManager integrates with FastTrack Schedule, which I also use from time to time.
This one is definitely not for me. I was shocked at the jump from 3.2 to 4.0, and then shocked further by the upgrade fees.
