Oracle 10g CommentaryORACLE 10 G and OSX Serrver - Version: 10.1.0.3, 12/25/2004 08:54PM PST

All of the introductory material just mentions OSX10.3.6 but the installation instructions state the minimum is OS X Server 10.3.6.

Is there any way to work with ORACLE 10g with a standard OS X system or do I need to acquire and install a Server operating system.

Nice speech, but have you actually tried it and have anything to offer as a review?

This release is very important for the Mac. Oracle must have seen enough Xserve sales to justify the commercial release. The Developer releases have been out for years. Whether Oracle is better than OpenBase (it is) or Sybase (it is) or PostgreSQL (it isn't) is not the point. Customers of this database will want to be able to hire the talent to build systems around it. I don't know too many OpenBase or Sybase developers, but I can name a large number of Oracle developers. Any database is useless without its database developers.
Yes, the licensing fees are high.
