Product Description:

A Better Finder Creators & Types is a file utility, which allows you to quickly and easily change file-to-application associations by setting the creator & type attributes of a single or multiple files.

The Macintosh Finder uses these properties to associate documents to their applications. Many documents such as gif or jpeg files can be opened in many different applications and A Better Finder Creators & Types allows you to decide which documents belong to which application. At long last, you can automatically open your files in your preferred application!

What's new in this version:

This minor update contains the new version of the System Preferences pane shared with the other A Better Finder series tools.

The System Preference Pane update:

allows the hot key to be changed to a wider variety of keys
displays registration details on all A Better Finder products
replaces the old Registration Assistant application
unloads the resident A Better Finder hot key application from memory when the feature is switched off

The "Better Finder" series is indespensible. Creators and Types was essential in OS 9, but still has a valuable function in all versions of OS X to date. I sometimes wonder how I could live without it, at those times when I have to make batch changes to the file and/or creator types. I use this in conjunction with Rename (my favorite module to the series). The developer supports his software, makes regular updates, and indeed honors his "Forever" upgrade. Personally, I believe in supporting shareware, and the author's pricing is utterly reasonable considering how useful these tools are.

"Those that can't afford these minor payments to authors shoud consider using a pen/pencil instead of a computer...that'll really save you some money! enuf said..." Now that's a good one. LOL. It makes me think of some friends and relatives of mine that because I'm an artist they think I should give it away to them. Software authors deserve our support when it's good to great.
