Product Description:

NmapFE for OSX is a native Cocoa frontend for the Nmap port-scanning security tool.

Written in Obj-C, this frontend is designed to provide a more convenient way to use Nmap without sacrificing speed. Access to all major features is there, as well as a decent tooltip implementation to remind you about some of the more obscure features. The newest version adds the ability to detect the actual name and version of the software running on a port.

What's new in this version:

Updated engine to nmap 3.50.

BTW, you might want to use a proxy when downloading this... I'll put it this way, the FBI subpoenaed Fyoder for his server logs at one point. I guess they don't like how using fragmentation with Nmap can help you slip through firewalls, huh?

Anyway, great tool for helping to harden your security.

If you're comfortable building unix software on your own, but don't like remembering the nmap command-line options, you can still use nmapfe on your intel mac. Just download the regular nmap source distribution (4.20 as of right now), build it, then copy the nmap binary to NmapFE Launcher.app/Contents/Resources/NmapFE.app/Contents/Resources, replacing the existing nmap. If you're feeling cool, you could probably just make it a symlink to /usr/local/bin/nmap or whatever, as well.
