Product Description:
ecto is a feature-rich desktop blogging client for MacOSX and Windows, supporting a wide range of weblog systems, such as Blogger, Blojsom, Drupal, MovableType, Nucleus, TypePad, WordPress, and more. ecto is the successor of the wildly popular Kung-Log. With ecto you can write and manage entries for your weblog(s). The advantage over using your weblog's control panel is that you can compose entries offline and use the extra features ecto offers, such as spellcheck, creating links, attachments, amazon support, Flickr integration via 1001 and much more. ecto is designed to make blogging much more easier and yet give the users as much power as possible to manage their weblogs.
What's new in this version:
- Fixed an issue where decoding base64 data would fail.
- The Create-A-Link manager respects https:// addresses.
- Changed shortcut for debug console as it conflicted with Apple's Dictionary service.
- ecto does not try to retrieve categories if there are no categories set for a blog.
- Technorati tags now appear at the end of en entry (regardless of body/extended).
- If Technorati tags should be inserted into keywords, only the tag words are inserted and the template is unused.
- Windows with unsaved drafts are so indicated with dimpled close button re Apple guidelines.
- Fixed an issue with the HTML tags editor.
- Added an option not to get keywords from iPhoto.
- Adjustments to the QuickTime embed code for poster movies.

Gosh, this 3.0 version took a long time to show up on VT. Been using it for quite a while already and ecto is the best in it's class. Small and efficient and does everything I need. The developer is also very good at squashing bugs.

I'm sorry I plopped down my money for this one.
I downloaded the trial but didn't have time to play with it so ended up buying to have the convenience. What a waste. As another reviewer pointed out, this SW manages to mangle HTML and is unable to manipulate photos from iPhoto.
Basically, a waste of time and money.

ecto 2.4.2 is not under development, please use ecto3 - Version: 2.4.2, 7/12/2008 06:08PM PST
