ecto is a feature-rich desktop blogging client for MacOSX (we also have a Windows version in the works), supporting a wide range of weblog systems, such as TypePad, MovableType, Nucleus, Blogger, and more.

editable menu for html tag templates, complete with shortcuts

What's new in this version:

ecto is currently in beta phase, with the current version being 0.1.6 and which will expire end of January, 2004.

Server running either the MovableType or weblog, version 2.6 or higher (with libraries SOAP::Lite, LWP::UserAgent, and MIME::Base64), the Serendipity weblog system, the Nucleus weblog system, version 1.5.5 or higher, or a system that uses the MovableType, MetaWeblog and/or BloggerAPI.

Gosh, this 3.0 version took a long time to show up on VT. Been using it for quite a while already and ecto is the best in it's class. Small and efficient and does everything I need. The developer is also very good at squashing bugs.

I'm sorry I plopped down my money for this one.

I downloaded the trial but didn't have time to play with it so ended up buying to have the convenience. What a waste. As another reviewer pointed out, this SW manages to mangle HTML and is unable to manipulate photos from iPhoto.

Basically, a waste of time and money.

ecto 2.4.2 is not under development, please use ecto3 - Version: 2.4.2, 7/12/2008 06:08PM PST
