This is lovely, but...

sidetracked
The more recent, very similar TerraVista (also free) renders a finer, more detailed image, and can be made considerably larger than the image in EarthGlobe. It also has more night highlight options.

want the sun with its crown and all planetary system... That's what happens when You make good free/donationtware... I've already replaced the earthmap; in two duplicated versions, by Mars and Jupiter... They all work side by side with each their own settings, til a restart that bring back preferences to one same setup and size... That let me think it would be very easy to change rotation speed values but it not my app.. I hope I was clear as english isn't my prime tongue

am too chicken to use the terminal so I followed your instructions but with the finder. Just right click (or ctrl-click) on the app and show package contents and then look for the Info.plist and open it with TextEdit and change the 0 to a 1. Works very easy and am much happier without it an MoonDock in the dock. I notice some weird 'quotes' in your instruction that don't look like they belong there... do they? Also you CAN still get at the preferences by clicking on the planet and pushing Apple-semicolon. Makes this app much better.
