I found the company tele # and called Mr. Schiwall. He is very nice and was glad to give me the code over the phone. He said he was having some problems with spam blockers used with some ISP's. Anyhoo, I am very pleased with his app. Thanks Joe
pd for it and haven't received a code yet - Version: 1.1, 4/27/2005 08:27AM PST

How does one get a code when you pay for this great app? It has been nearly 2 weeks and haven't gotten one yet. I've tried to find an email address for the creator of this app but wasn't able to find it anywhere. If one has a problem, which I haven't except for the code thing, how would one contact them?
Good OSX replacement for Apple's Notepad, but not the Scrapbook.

Those little Xnippets of information can only be text; doesn't store graphics. Nice use of the Services menu to add/retreive Xnippets and also nice hierarchical organization of the Xnippet items. No ability to sort items, date stamp, or print from the toolbar. When adding a new Xnippet, the first line automatically becomes the title. Unfortunately you have to triple click to edit this (one click to switch to the program, then double click to edit.) It would be nice if the just added Xnippet title was automatically editable (perhaps this could be a preference.) Also, if you want to delete an item you get the confirmation dialog. Would be nice to have a preference to disable this for experienced users.

my needs extremely well. it's simple and very convenient to use. *** searching across all entries is so simple that most people miss it. there's a Search field in the drawer. simply enter the search text and press return to find every xnippet that contains the text you're looking for. *** getting the data out again is also simple. usually, you would use the clipboard. you can copy just selected text from within one xnippet, or copy multiple xnippets from the drawer. if you really want to 'export' the data in file form, then open the Xnippet data folder (~LibraryXnippetsItemStorage) where all the data is stored in individual rft files and copy the source files themselves. you could also use the Finder's Find utility to search the content of the selected files or folder too.

entries... pretty dumb
I've collected all kinds of indispensable information into Xnippets over the past 4 years, and was hugely relieved when I could continue to use it with Leopard. Yes, it is text only, but it uses all the features of the OS text handling and supports Services. What this app really is, is a "free form database" (even non-geeks need to organize their information). The design is intuitive and flexible.
Don't worry that the app hasn't been updated in 4 years, it is rock solid and because it is built on Mac guidelines and underpinnings, "it just works".
