After Dark X ReviewStill needs work... - Version: 1.0.1, 11/15/2005 01:05PM PST

I have to tell you, I have a real soft spot for Berkeley's flying toasters so when I heard that it was reincarnated I was rather excited. Unfortunately, the excitement soon gave way to frustration and disappointment. Infinisys has really dropped the ball on this one: the graphics are [quite literally] just slapped from the old version; hence, poor quality, fuzziness, fringing, etc. (On my Apple LCDs, this is quite noticable.) Dual monitor support is spotty. Custom settings are poorly implemented. Overall, I wouldn't recommend buying until they've fixed these problems. A real shame.

Not too bad but I think I could find a better one.

I tried the Fish screensaver but, on my dual-monitor setup at least, every time a new frame of some of the fish is displayed, a white background shows for an instant. Pity. This makes it unusable: too distracting.

Most of the After Dark modules are OK except for Pulsar which won't load.

I'm using 10.3.6 with all security patches, etc.
