Product Description:

AutoPairs modifies the behavior of certain keystrokes, to help you keep paired characters such as parentheses properly matched. For instance, when you type a left parenthesis, AutoPairs will type the right parenthesis and a left arrow for you, so that you are read to type what goes between the parentheses. This and other pair macros can be turned on and off individually.

What's new in this version:

 • Now compatible with Snow Leopard.
 • It is now possible to assign a specific configuration to an app that lacks a creator code, such as Terminal.
 • The background application quit automatically if the preference pane is moved.
 • When the preference panel starts, it quits any AutoPairs backgrounder and restarts the current one. This makes it simpler to install AutoPairs updates.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

 • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
 • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
 • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
 • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

AutoPairs Review"Straight Single Quotes" - Version: 2.1.2, 8/20/2007 01:50AM PST

I, too, was plagued by flashfrogge's issue; here's my fix:

I navigated to ~/Library/PreferencePanes/AutoPairs.prefPane/Contents/PlugIns/AutoPairs/Contents/Resources/Macros.plist, and edited out "Straight Single Quotes."

Unfortunately, I was unable to get the change to stick, so I went hunting...

I copied the edited plist to my desktop, trashed AutoPairs.prefPane, reinstalled it, replaced Macros.plist in my new installation with the edited plist, and VOILA!

There's got to be an easier way, but damned if I was able to divine it.

Neat app; I may even get ambitious and add in stuff like .
