DYMO LabelWriter ReviewOS X Address Book Groups gone - Version: 8.2, 11/25/2009 01:30PM PST

adammasri
Hello Dymo,

In v7 we could see MacOS X Address Book Groups as well as names. Now, we only see names from the built-in Address Book. The groups were very important. I have a client that prints well over a hundred labels for letters to her extended family, and she likes to click her Family group from OS X Address Book in the Dymo software, and print labels to all of them at once. Now she can't do that. She's frustrated, which will likely lead to less label printing, which of course is bad.

I registered on your Website, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to send you an RFE. So I'm doing it here.

DYMO LabelWriter CommentaryExercise in frustration.. but yes it can print - Version: 7.8, 6/12/2009 06:06PM PST

The software is one serious kludge. Yes, it supposedly can use your Mac Address book, but try finding a recently added name. There's no way to sort or search for an address in the little address book window. The addresses in that window don't seem to be sorted in any order.. perhaps date added? I typically find it just faster to copy/paste from address book into the label printer software than attempt to find an addy in the Dymo Address Book.

Also, creating labels is funky monkey. There are no 'duplicate' commands to create variations on a previously created address layout. You can probably find the file itself somewhere through the finder, then duplicate/rename/open it.

Overall, it's barely functional as an intuitive label software.

DYMO LabelWriter CommentaryWhy no support for Address Book? - Version: 7.8, 10/21/2008 04:31PM PST

Support for Office is all very well (but I never use it) but why no support for AddressBook? This is the program that I would like to be able to use a label printing product from - it's where all my addresses are, after all...

DYMO LabelWriter Reviewthis doesn't work!!! - Version: 7.8, 5/21/2008 04:30PM PST

this package installs the dymo label application, but NOT the drivers. i did everything right, followed all the instructions, but no go. i found all old versions of dymo software (application & drivers) on my mac & deleted them. then i reinstalled (kept the labelwriter unplugged until i was told to plug it in, then plugged it in) and again, no drivers were installed. i don't believe they are part of the package!!! i am really pissed off about this because i've been unable to use my labelwriter for well over a year now. so, the dymo app won't open b/c it doesn't recognize any printers. my "printer setup" in system prefs is able to see the labelwriter well enough, but there is no driver for it. USELESS!!!!!

DYMO LabelWriter ReviewAlso UPGRADED & Working OK! - Version: 7.7.1, 3/4/2008 03:24PM PST

Mini Core2Duo 1.83 and 10.5.2 (9C31). Just followed instructions and it works flawlessly.
My LW400 Turbo is connected via a hub and there was no problems with the installation
finding it correctly.

However, I do agree the installation software could use some tweaking, it brings back memories of OS 9.

Upgraded from earlier version. Use a couple printers via Printer Share over net. Didn't do anything special, just installed, then went to Prefs/Printers and added the networked printer and it worked first time and several times today.

DYMO LabelWriter ReviewWorthless piece of software!!! - Version: 7.7.1, 2/14/2008 12:00AM PST

I tried to install it on a Mac Pro running Leopard 10.5.2. I've connected my Dymo LabelWriter Turbo via USB after the installation where completed (when it told me to connect it!) but when I fire up the software it tells me this - "Application could not find supported printers. Please re-install your printer driver." I have tried that a couple of times and I know that the system can see the printer through System Profiler but it still doesn't work.

WHAT A WORTHLESS PIECE OF SOFTWARE!!!
