RealPlayer ReviewPure Crap - Version: 11 build 884, 10/31/2008 04:23AM PST

Everytime I launch the damn thing it asks to "configure" my browser (which I do NOT want it to do) and there is no option to turn this crap off. On top of that, it's buggy and sometimes I can't move the window until I restart it. Well, I have one option that's for sure... to put RealPlayer in the trash.

This has finally caused me to give up on Real Player forever.

this install takes over your system disabling/overwriting important system files to such an extent DVD's can no longer play outside the RM environment. its has pop ups and downloaders that randomly interfere with your browsing.

overall I't to intrusive (this was an Microsoft messenger trick and now Real Media are using it).

its take a complete format and reinstall to remove it and get the system back to normal

ANyone know of a any convertors for Real media video to Quicktime?

If you read my last post, you will see where the problem lies. That said, I had one machine that had the previous version (build 631) installed. I replaced the "RealNetworks" folder in ~/Library/Applications\ Support with the previous version's Download Agent - started it and now it is working as it should.

As stated, the new Download Agent that ships with Build 884 is not working or is broken. I find it interesting that a previously installed version will work. I thought that it would have given me an error telling me that "This version is no longer supported" but it didn't.

Perhaps Real should package the DL Agent from 631 with the app from 884? Dunno, but this fix seems to have worked now on 3 laptops. (In case I had not stated that this only affects wireless access in my other posts)
