Product Description:

DeskShade 2 has a simple objective: make you enjoy your desktop. Hide your desktop icons with a smooth fade, then pick your favorite desktop and see it rotate on 3D cube.

The new version sports a brand new desktop organizer with your personal albums and iPhoto support. To change the color scheme of a picture, simply use the built-in Color variation tool. No more Photoshop necessary!

To import pictures from online desktop sites, there are two new innovative features. Image dropping on the menu item allows you to drag a picture straight from a web page to DeskShade. Then there are DeskShade links, a new link format to allow one click desktop downloads.

There are 6 desktop transitions to choose from, so switching desktop pictures finally becomes more visually pleasing. For even more desktop movement, add a DeskMovie to your desktop and turn your background into a cinema.

DeskLock has been entirely revamped and now fully supports AppleScript, has several locking styles and can be initiated automatically after a period of inactivity.

At least in 10.5.4 the setting to ignore exposé doesn't work... it scoots the desktop covering right out of the way when i use exposé with or without this setting on even after a restart of deskshade.

When I searched for DeskShade, two versions were found. One freeware, the other shareware. I picked the freeware version as I don't pretend I'll pay for something when I have no real intention to do so. The download went fine, I copied the app over and launched. I was immediately greeted by a dialog that said I was using an unregistered verison. Unregistered? I thought this was freeware. It turns out the author has made a new and improved verison and released it as shareware. But, and this is where I have an issue, he placed the shareware verison in a file that is the same name as the freeware version, and doesn't appear to have changed anything else. So we download a product that says it's freeware but is really shareware. The author claims here that the old verison is still available and that it won't be updated. Where it's located is anybody's guess.
