Product Description:

JBuddy Messenger is a cross-service, cross-platform IM client for J2SE compliant Java enabled PCs, Macs and devices. JBuddy Messenger supports AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger on all the major operating systems including Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, OS/2, etc. In addition to supporting the major public IM services, JBuddy Messenger supports Zion's enterprise IM solution - JBuddy Message Server.

Future enhancements of JBuddy Messenger are already in development to provide a rich set of enterprise IM features. JBuddy Messenger is available as a free demo download installer using Install Anywhere. Since JBuddy Messenger stores preferences locally and makes network connections to other computers (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Sametime, Jabber, JBuddy Message Server, and ZionSoftware.com to check for product updates and retreive mini-ads) unrestricted access (in the java security sandbox context) is necessary to use this IM client. Our jars have been signed with a Thawte Code Certificate for your protection. JBuddy Messenger download currently comprises a 2.1MB installer.zip. We also have an enterprise IM client called JBuddy Messenger Pro which includes support for Jabber and Lotus Instant Messenger (Sametime). Please visit Zion's store page for licensing information.

JBuddy Messenger ReviewA toy - Version: 2.4.0822, 2/22/2008 10:03AM PST

VictoTronics
So many annoyances.....

My buddy list shows the groups "Contacts", "Other contacts" and "Work", and there is no way to tell it how to ignore those groups and just show me everyone. There also seems to be no way to move a buddy from one group to another.

When the program starts up it shows a small splash screen, then displays a dialog behind it. I just click on one of the buttons that sticks out from behind the splash screen, but I have no idea what I have just agreed to.

This is maybe an alpha version of a program that could conceivably be useful in a couple of years.

Developers, please do not list something as Freeware when its not.

Freeware = free to use, no expiration, not a trial, no money expected. This is ShareWare at best.

OK Seriously, I've been looking for a replacement for AIM. I wanted to try this out. Anytime I tried to connect, I got a message about an invalid license. I thought this was freeware? It wants me to register...

Maybe I'd consider paying for it, but I couldn't even *try* it. This product is not as advertised!
