BinaryBiz does not put the cost of the VirtualLab product ANYWHERE on their website, but instead makes you go through the whole installation and trial process before you can find out the price - I find this tactic to be dishonest, secretive, manipulative, and completely unacceptable. I would not do business with a company that won't tell me the cost of their goods upfront.
Works Great!

This software is one of the best I've tried to recover data. It does have a few quirks but I was able to get nearly everything off a hard drive. Nothing else would work, Disk Warrior, Disk Utility. FSCK, nothing.
There is a newer version now, 3.9.5 that works better than other people here have been complaining about.

This app won't work in Tiger but I got word from their support department that they are working on a fix for it. Should be in the next month or so.
My guess is that these types of apps access the device low-level so when Apple changes the way that their OS works, it will break apps like these.
They do offer a windows application of the same name that will recover a mac volume from a Windows PC. Keeps the resource forks too.

Junk! Crashed the Mac while before it did anything useful...twice. I am going to uninstall right away.
I notice there is no company website or contact info for these people. I guess that makes sense.

Cool! This application is great for demonstrating kernel panics to those who've never seen one before! For version 4.0, I suggest adding a smoky-smell option!
Oh, but if you are looking for good data recovery software, I would definitely look elsewhere. Data Rescue II and FileSalvage actually work.

I noticed that the latest 3.9.1 version has Tiger-specific stuff in its installation list.
I installed on 10.4.2, then started the program. (Maybe I shoulda restarted?)
It got about a minute into its game, then kernel panicked while it was supposedly scanning for drives to work with.

Use with EXTREME caution!

After trying several other programs to attempt an undelete an iPhoto library on an eMac, I decided to give this program a try. I bootet the eMac into target disk mode and ran the program from my new PowerBook G4 then running 10.3.4. Got an instant kernel panic and had to force restart the PowerBook only to find it no longer booted afterwards. I had to reinstall my system after trying this program. Sounds like I'm not alone, so I thought I'd share this experiece to save you the headache. Good luck. In another exergency, I did have some good success with Data Rescue X (except for a couple of files), TechTool Pro 4 was useless and DiskWarrior was unable to rebuild the catalog. Norton you should know is also inompatible with Tiger. Wont even run in most cases. Of course a back of is always the best way to go if you can, but that doesn't help if you're helping someone else out. I found Synchronize Pro! the easiest and most robust. EXPENSIVE! but it works. Don't try to use Retrospect to Synch. Good for back-up, but a pain for synching or attempting to merge files. At lease in my experience.
