Labels and Cards Pro CommentaryNice program but slow in some functions - Version: 1.9.3, 12/13/2004 11:10AM PST

In a trial of this application, I began designing a business card. Searching for a graphic to import into the document was like wading through molasses. If this behavior can be corrected, i'd be inclined to buy the program.

Outstanding support a week ago I sent the following email to: info@metisinternational.com

“Re: LabelsAndCardsPro 1.9.1

Two releases ago (version 1.8.9) you added "Preferences > Application Font added." This made me very happy! However this feature has not worked (Broken) in your last two releases.

The ability to select a default font puts LabelsAndCardsPro ahead of the competition. Please fix.

Suggestion: Adding Default Font "Point Size" would be a great time saver and put LabelsAndCardsPro way ahead of the competition.

Thank you! If I can help you in anyway please feel free to contact me. Keep up the good work.”

One week later: LabelsAndCardsPro 1.9.2

What’s New: Preferences>Application Font Size added. (to use select size, then click Make Default to make this application preference.

Thank you!

Labels and Cards Pro CommentaryLooks very good but..... - Version: 1.8.7, 7/13/2004 08:34AM PST

the databases seem to be set out specifically for US addresses. The UK postal service has its own protocol for the layout of a written address & I'm sure other countries do too. Can this be intergrated with AddressBook the way some other really basic apps can (eg. SnailMail )??? I'm about to look at a similar sounding app called Imprint which is about the same price as this to decide who gets my money!!!

Labels and Cards Pro ReviewGreat App - Version: 1.8.7, 7/9/2004 10:43PM PST

Nothing but praise for this app. Still provides the absolute best business solution of any app made for the Mac when it comes to labels and envelopes.

great software developer to work with when there's an issue with a version release. Working with Dmitry through emails has been a pleasure. I recently had issues with v1.8.5 of L&C Pro, and some of the issues (under Mac Classic environment) could not be duplicated by them, but with numerous emails they got ALL the issues resolved for me in v1.8.6. I've registered several of their apps, and all are of quality and price. In fact, their pricing is less costly, by far, when compaired to their competetitors. Moreover, some software, like L&C Pro --my favorite--can not be had at any price for the classic environment wiith the quality and tasks built into that app. I highly recommend Metis's product lineup.

best of its kind... period. Over the past 20-years there has been nothing--from anyone-- that comes close to what LCP does. It gets better with each release. I know because I've been using this program for a very long time. With the exception of only one or two developers for this type of software, all other programs are a slap in the face to the Mac user. Moreover, Avery is the worst culprit. Avery no longer even supports Mac users with a decent app. Even then it was a bare-bones app that was really poor in many ways. (FYI, if you want far less expensive labels than Avery, that are first rate,: Go to "LabelMatch.) On the PC side of the isle there are many great programs of this type, but the Mac community is treated like a fart in a bucket for great label software. It's not so much of 'oh my' a mediocre label program for the Mac--thank you-thank you very much, but rather this is a very good program and you'll only do better on the PC side of the isle. Even there, this would be a good program.Yes, MS Word has some really nice labeling built-in, but as a single 'sole purpose app' this, indeed, is truly a good program.

Failure to list what's new...
Otherwise, a solid program, that's done everything I've put it to task to. I haven't had or seen any of the problems listed here. Money well spent IMHO.

Labels and Cards Pro ReviewStill a Value for the Money - Version: 1.8.0, 1/13/2004 04:40PM PST

I still believe this is a true software value for what it does and the its price. It can be used for business purposes as well as personal. I'm not running each a server and I am registered user, so for me it has consistently been improved with each release. Tailoring everything to one's need takes some time, but once accomplished this app does provide substantial amounts of serious features.

Labels and Cards Pro ReviewStill Unacceptable - Version: 1.7.9, 1/2/2004 12:57PM PST

Bytesmiths

With the email help of Metis tech support, I was finally able to download and install the latest version.

However, they informed me that I must restart my computer in order to get rid of the "another copy in use" problem that causes it to run in demo mode if it crashes or is force-quit.

My computer serves a website, and serves files to other computers. I am not going to re-start it if some application crashes, due to their poorly implemented copy protection! I let Metis know this is unacceptable behavior for anyMacOS X application. I would not tolerate this of a $1200 Adobe suite, let alone shareware that I use infrequently! Get a grip, software developers!

I laud Metis's rapid email reply to my support question, and am upgrading my "Support" rating to "Neutral," but their product is still Not Acceptable, because it requires a restart when it crashes. (Back to the bad, old MacOS 9 days!) When the next MacOS X upgrade arrives, and I restart my computer, maybe I'll try to use it again. Maybe not.
