These utilities are a command-line replacement for the Accounts preference pane. They let you add users and groups to the system. Right now groups support is very limited on OSX, but is used much more with OSX Server.
I remote manage an XServe, and these utilities will be making their way to the server very soon.

This package is for the command line.
If you do not wish to add users/groups via the command line you do not need this.

(note, I did not just install, as I don't know what to use it for.)
Please, you and other Unix Guru's, explain to us peasants what your products do.
I am actually a PowerMacUser, having used Mac's for 17 yrs now, but am still behind the curve in Unix. Please explain what these utilities are, what they do, how they will enhance my computing experience. I appreciate all the work you've put into it, now, make us appreciate you more by explaining what you've done so we'll know whether or not we can use it for something useful. Please don't answer with "you can't use it if you don't know what I'm talking about in my present description" as I may be able & willing to learn what else I need to know if it sounds useful enough. For example, I don't know what "useradd" adds to. etc. . . Thanks, and please don't take offense, I just want to learn more about the areas in computing I don't know about, and I suspect there are many like me out there.
