Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor ReviewA good solid product - Version: 4.7, 6/13/2008 05:02AM PST

I like that this program doesn't restrict you to prerecorded, repetitive lessons. Every lesson is generated on the spot. I learned to type with it, it certainly worked. Easy to use, perhaps the "help" could be better but since its pretty obvious what to do it didn't bother me.

Multi-language support in Ten Thumbs?. No sir! You MUST have a single copy of Ten Thumbs for each language and it supports only that language! If like me, you type in English on a Danish keyboard then, Ten Thumbs is of no use. In answer to my dissatisfaction with the product Ten Thumbs replied,

"We have discussed changing the language selection operation, so that the user
interface can be in a different language to the keyboard and lesson. This
would be possible and is under consideration for a future update. Allowing you
to type in a different keyboard with the lesson itself in English would not be
practical, because of differences in the language/alphabet itself.

Would being able to type with the instructions and interface in English but
the lesson line itself in Danish meet your needs?

We will be happy to issue you with a refund, but I'd appreciate hearing your
feedback on this possibility."

That was in March 2007, still waiting for the refund in August !

From my personal experience with Ten Thumbs I would now recommend alternatives like KAS for Mac or PC, www.kaz-type.com, which I have used on my UK keyboard Mac laptop. For my Intel Mac desktop running Vista with the Danish Keyboard? There are so many PC typing tutors that support multi keyboards that it's impossible to recommend one!

Someone stole my Powerbook (*#°ç°n§!) but thanks to RunRev I can use TTTT on a loaned windows PC (despite buying a Mac licence) and at last my typing is progressing quickly whilst have time on my hands.

Wish I could so the same with CS2!

I should have put more effort in to using this program a long time ago, you get out what you put in I guess?!

The RunRev teame were very supportive and I'm very grateful.

I tried this software on an iMac Intel with OS X 10.4.7, in French Canadian CSA keyboard configuration. The french localisation is horrible. The keyboard selcetion option does not work, it's unusable.

Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor Troubleshooting ReportTyping Tutor 4.2.1 will not open with Mac OS X 10.3.9 - Version: 4.2.1, 6/1/2006 05:23AM PST

After upgrading from version 4.2 to 4.2.1 on my 1 GHz PowerBook, Typing Tutor application will no longer open (a few bounces on the dock and then 'poof').

I cannot re-obtain version 4.2 from VersionTracker. The download site has two links (one to the "current version" and one to Version 4.2. However, both links connect to downloading version 4.2.1.

New subject. Why must we keep re-entering the activation code with each upgrade? Other vendos' applications don't make you do that for minor upgrades (e.g., 4.2 to 4.2.1).

Who did the German localization on this product? A German 101 student?
I know I was one of those who asked for other keyboard layouts, so please do us a favor and let us choose them from the English language section. Otherwise a good app.

I started using this app in 1998 when I decided to start using a dvorak keyboard and had to relearn typing. It was a great investment. I've continued to use it a couple times a month, because I find that it keeps my typing speed higher and my mistakes lower. Now my 8 year old daughter is using it to learn to type.

Typing speed is not calculated. No matter how slow I be the program rates me as Superman with a speed of 97 wpm.
