Product Description:

SIDPLAY is a Commodore 64 music player. It emulates the sound chip and other internals of the Commodore 64 home computer to play back music that was originally written on it. The sound chip was called the "Sound Interface Device" or SID, and therefore this music is known as SID music. The SID chip is basically a three voice synthesizer on a chip. The unusual combination of digital and analogue circuitry is the reason for its distinctive sound.

Completely new user interface
Rewrote all functionality using the Cocoa framework
Taking advantage of modern features found in Mac OS X Leopard
Collections and playlists are now managed in an iTunes-like source list
Playback is using Antti Lankila's distortion patch
Allows control over emulation quality options
Collection updates are now performed using synchronization with a server
STIL can be viewed and also searched using the dedicated STIL browser
Paths in STIL browser are clickable links into the collection
It's now possible to create smart playlists
Spotlight search results can be saved as smart playlists
New export file formats (AAC and Apple Lossless) have been added
Multiple files can be exported simultaneously (taking advantage of multi-core CPUs)
SIDPLAY will optionally check for new versions automatically
Playback is now using CoreAudio
Added mini player window like in iTunes
Playlists can be exported in M3U format
Playlist items can have a repeat count assigned
Playlist items can be edited in the browser directly
Improved user guidance during first startup
CPU usage overload is now detected and music paused (previously caused unresponsiveness of application)
Info window is now using HUD-style appearance
Added option to jump to currently playing tune
Browser state is saved when switching to playlist and restored when switching back
Many other improvements

Nice software, but G4?!?! - Version: 3.4.1, 4/19/2006 11:48PM PST

Old versions just needed a G3, now G4 is the lower limit? WHY??
I downloaded the source and compiled it for G3 and it runs on my iBook G3 without problems. So why do I need a G4 now?
