Try to get a replacement copy after a crash even after you've paid for it... I dare you.

Honor Ansel Adams' wishes. First of all, Ansel Adams disputed the Interior Department's rights to these photos. But his lawyers weren't as big as their lawyers. And anyone who would produce such sub-standard examples of his work against his wishes only deserves our scorn. Not our money.

Ansel Adams was a consummate artist and a master of the traditional photographic process. These early public domain photographs, taken for the Department of the Interior between 1933 and 1942, predate Adams' development of the Zone System that resulted in the stunning technical quality we normally associate with an Adams photograph. Adams had no control over how his DOI photographs were used, how the negatives were stored or handled, or how prints were made from those negatives. Wherever you see these photographs today, their reproduction quality is always woefully inferior. Adams would never have endorsed their circulation as examples of his fine art photography. This screensaver, along with the numerous calendars, coffee table books and posters that seek to cash in on the Adams reputation by hawking these substandard photographs only dishonor the man and distract the public from the power and beauty of his real artistic output.
