Audacity X ReviewShady spots in the light: - Version: 1.3.5d, 9/13/2008 08:51AM PST

Nice app, but I keep missing some stuff:
- a way to set a marker more precisely than 0.1 second. It just jumps to the next full n x 0.1 sec value
- a more intuitive way to set the in and out markers. I dont understand how this app doesnt stick with the usual I and O keys for setting the markers as Quicktime and Friends do. But even [ and ] wont really always do the trick and [ keeps offering me a nag screen asking for numeric values.
- i took me a while to find out that the way to set the play-pointer without modifying the selection is to cmd-click into the window.

Otherwise, pretty useful.

but it still crashes randomly.....won't render plugins correctly and frustrates me every time I use it. I wish the team all the best but I'l delete it now and wait for yet another version.(I've done this for years with Audacity).

I'll compress this as much as possible: The download page was confusing, the separate codec for MP3s (LAME, how aptly named) never installed. It kept crashing in the middle of projects; often while trying to save. I know this is a popular product; clearly they've run up against some problem doubtless caused by Apple, but still...

Powerbook G4 aluminum OSX 10.5.4 plenty of RAM and free disk space.
