Product Description:

Smile is a working environment which offers both a set of production technologies and a natural fashion of having them work together so that you produce faster and better, you automate frequent tasks and you control complex operations. The technologies available to Smile's users include:
  • an AppleScript editor with many scripting helpers, and a unique on-line AppleScript interpreter - a shell for AppleScript with a persistent context
  • an editor of scripted interfaces
  • a text editor for ASCII and Unicode, with a search-and-replace tool supporting Regular Expressions
  • a XML editor
  • Regular Expression commands
  • XML and p-list commands
  • a 2D graphic engine, where you program vectorial PDF graphics by script
  • commands for driving industrial interfaces: RS232 serial communication, digital I/O, LED display.

What's new in this version:

  • 23 additional commands add more sophisticated features to the Graphic library: drop shadows, transparency layers, objects libraries, turbulent patterns, PDF and bitmap import, etc.
  • A reviewed Graphic Kernel Palette provides each command's description.
  • Smile now opens multi-page PDF's, and provides commands to count pages, and get a PDF's rectangles.
  • 4 additional commands finalize the XML Suite, bringing DTD validation and compatibility with XML 1.1,
  • Smile now comes with a standard Installer,

...v 3.1.x does not work with OS X 10.3.9 as stated on VT, it is for 10.4 and higher only.

Smile's developer fixed that issue since version 3.0.6, as far as I know.

Smile Troubleshooting ReportInstaller destroys custom window settings - Version: 3.0.6, 8/10/2005 05:25AM PST

CAUTION! On 3/3 computers onto which I installed Smile 3.0.6, most if not all of my custom window settings had reverted to their default settings after restarting my machines. Better take a picture of those windows whose icon placement you want to keep-you'll have to restore them after installation and restart.
