Product Description:

Cuppa is a small application for Mac OS X to time your cup of tea as it steeps. Tired of leaving your tea too long, to become bitter and cold, or drinking it too soon and not appreciating its full potential? Then this utility is for you!

Use it from the Dock: just right-click or control-click on Cuppa's icon and select the beverage you are brewing. Or select a beverage from the Beverages menu. Cuppa will begin timing the brew, and you'll see a teabag appear in the cup and gradually darken as the tea steeps. When the tea is done Cuppa will attempt to get your attention by various configurable means. You can also enable a countdown timer that's displayed in the dock icon.

Cuppa ReviewPerfect for my needs! - Version: 1.5.4, 9/20/2007 09:09AM PST

I love this timer! I use it for tea, of course, but also for other things when I don't want to get busy and forget to check. It's a small app, unobtrusive and just does the job without any fuss. It's to the point where I don't think I could do without it!

Cuppa ReviewMy Favorite Timer - Version: 1.5.2, 7/20/2006 10:01AM PST

What I love about Cuppa is that it is so easy to set. Most timers make the user click through window panes and timers to get the right time. Cuppa's presets let the user program all their usual timers, and then it's just a right click to set and start the timer. Brilliant!

Cuppa isn't the only timer to use the presets method (Minetuer), but it is the simplest. I like the icon, too.

The only problem with Cuppa is that it doesn't keep the user updated on the remaining time. There's a tiny badge on the icon, but for someone like me with a full dock and "only" a 19" monitor, the badge is all but invisible. I can turn on dock magnification and mouse over the badge to see it, but what a pain! The best solution I've see to this problem is simply to replace the icon with a timer display whenever a timer is progressing. Hopefully the developer will do this, or make it an option, so the size of a person's dock doesn't impinge on their ability to use Cuppa. Heh.

Otherwise, this is a fantastic timer. Great work!

If you want to customise the sounds ; right click the Cuppa application and select 'Show Package Contents', then go to Contents -> Resources. Replace 'pour.aiff' and 'spoon.aiff' with your own aiff's (name them the same though).
