Installed the update on a G4 running 10.5.2, a Mac Pro running 10.4.11 and a G5 running 10.4.11. So far everything works as it did before the update.

just like iChat which used to work fine, now won't hold a video chat connection. many others have the same problem. check out the support forums for ichat at apple.com
as a 'fix' for iChat, just like i use VLC for certain videos and other tasks, i've recommended everyone to switch from iChat to Skype. unlike iChat, Skype just works-right off the line. no complicated, go to xxxx and change this setting, then to yyyy and change that setting, etc.

why, oh why, apple can't you get your own software to work properly w/o all the fiddling around with other preferences (quicktime) and settings? a tiny team across the pond did skype w/o access to your holy innards and they got it right AND you can use it to call land lines.

let's stop patting stevie on the back for his teams' brilliance and hound him into making apple product work. now, that would be insanely sane!

Apple QuickTime CommentaryNo video with mp4 files not fixed - Version: 7.4.5, 4/3/2008 07:47AM PST

As has been discussed on Apple's Web site, as well as here on MacFixit, many users who upgraded to Quicktime 7.4 lost the ability to view mp4 video files - only the audio content would play. Unfortunately, this problem has not been addressed with v7.4.5.

For the people who will invariably chime in with "Just use VLC" - we know. Using VLC doesn't change the fact that Quicktime is broken and no longer works as it should (and previously did).
