icXL CommentaryUpdate not necessary? - Version: 2.2, 9/27/2005 03:42AM PST

Thanks for writing to Panergy and posting the reply. It saves me the trouble. It also sounds like it is maybe a cosmetic update.

With NeoOffice/J available for free, I really haven't much use for this product any more--but it was good for what it did at the time I needed it, and certainly takes up a whole lotta less HD space!

icXL CommentaryStrange "update!" - Version: 2.2, 9/25/2005 12:22PM PST

I sent the following email to Panergy Software regarding their icExcel update 2.2:

I am an icExcel 2.1 user (Reg. # 020D-0003BB7A-FO3), and just noticed on Version Tracker that "v.2.2 Update" is available. I see no place for 2.1 owners to "update" without downloading the "Free 30 day trial version" and then paying $19.95.

Is v.2.2 an update or an upgrade? $19.95 seems like a pretty high price for an update.

I received the following reply:

"Dear Jerry,
You do not need to update to icExcel 2.2 if you have icExcel 2.1. The changes are mostly internal and will not affect you.
Maayan"

This seems very strange to me. Why issue an update if it isn't needed???

icXL CommentaryWrong Version? - Version: 2.1, 2/10/2005 02:32PM PST

I just upgraded from 2.0.2 to 2.1, but the version still reads 2.0.2. My VersionPro software also notices this and keeps telling me to upgrade. Sloppy.
