This driver is for the 2600 series only, however go here for the 5100 leopard updated drivers: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1153481〈=en

It may be that this applies only to 2600 series Photosmart printers.

Looks like this is for the 2600 series only. Go to HP's site and download the latest appropriate driver for your printer there... this isn't a generic HP driver.
Late-breaker conflict? - Version: 9.7, 1/17/2008 12:00AM PST

Are you kidding?! That late-breaker is from 2003.
However, I had a problem using a HP scanner and the HP all-in-one 4315 at the same time last year. I had downloaded the most recent drivers from their web site. Evidently, the problem was that the device manager could not distinguish between the two scanners. (The scanner in the 4315 was dirty out of the box.) I gave away the photo scanner and am still using the all-in-one 4315.

Beta or Final Release? - Version: 9.7, 1/16/2008 12:00AM PST

Is this the beta version or a final release? A beta version of v9.7 has been available on the HP web site since Nov. A visit to the HP site reveals only the same beta version:

This update does not support my Photosmart 7350 - and the earlier drivers don't work on my Mac Pro. If a manufacturer builds and sell a printer it is their responsibility to support that product through it's useful life-span. Since they still sells ink for the 7350 it is considered viable by at least some people at HP. Why, then, don't the software designers who develop their drivers support it? Clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. This is a cautionary tale for anyone considering buying a new HP printer. Their support is poorly integrated, inconsistent and unreliable.

so far, it is at least as good a 9.5. Thanks HP for continuing to develop for the Mac.
TONS of Permissions Problems - Version: 9.7, 1/16/2008 12:00AM PST

I was hoping this installer would address the permissions problems which occurred with 9.7b on 10.5.1. It made it worse.
Running Repair Permissions from Disk Utility after either of these installs will make you dizzy from watching all the errors reported.

HP doesn't seem to be using the separate Installer Package/Driver versioon numbers anymore. The brand new driver (Sept. 1, 2004) is v2.5.5, and you can get it here:

I found this website and anxiously installed the Photosmart driver. Still no luck; the 1200 status is "connecting", but never prints (before this install, it was "stopped").
Is the 1200 too old and should just be junked? Is it a bad idea to buy two different HP printers for the same computer (better to use two different brands?)
