Silverfast provides the power that scanner-bundled software does not provide--incredible sensitivity and the ability to adjust features rarely addressed in any other package. For those who want a "bundled" package and Silverfast is not included, you will see the true value of your scanner realized with this package.

After Heidelberg pulled support for the Topaz 1 I’ve been looking an Mac OS X native scanner package for it.
Now its here and its way to expensive considering the cost for servicing a Topaz and most photography is now digital I can not justify the 2500.00 price tag. It makes more sense to maintain an Mac OS 9 box and use the factory scan package.

Lasersoft came through with the middle lens for the Circon from version 6.023 I believe. With the few necessary bug fixes Silverfast proves itself now to be an invaluable tool for professional scanning. The application works consistantly well in OS9,X and Windows. It allows negative scanning with nice control and high bit scanning for aging abandonned scanners. Silverfast allows or betters the excellent Linocolor scans to be had for a price that's well within reason for a truly pro scanning application.
